Hi all.
The basics: nexus 7 2013 lte&WiFi with timurs Kernal v3. (was going to update to v4 until I saw Android 6 has mono usb out audio issues?)
My nexus is too large to fit behind the double din fascia of my car so I had to get creative and install it sitting outside of the fascia, and I'm surprisingly happy with it considering I came from having an alpine W502EV touch screen unit which sat prefectly flush and look high end oem.
I have a little mdf board behind it with a relay connected to battery and triggered by the ignition/acc. Connected to this are two 12v to 5v 3a power regulators. One plugs into a powered usb hub, the other powers my otg y cable.
Audio is provided by a miniDSP MiniStreamer which is a usb sound card with coaxial spdif input and output.
Music is all in Flac and is currently stored on a 16gb usb stick and internally.
I am running a minidsp C DSP processor (absolutely the best value processor out there, amazing power for the cost). It has a little remote control panel that has master volume control and the ability to select between 4 presets.
I have a Treo Engineering ssx 75.4 powering my hertz mille tweeters and mid ranges, and a jbl gto504 bridged (2x140w) powering my hertz mille mid woofers.
I've got a jbl gto14001 powering my 2 idmax 10d2v4 subs. The amp also has a volume control knob which I've mounted next to the processor remote.
.
A few things I found: the usb hub and stuff attached to it appears in my list of usb devices but nothing attached to it would actually work. It's a usb 3.0 hub and it appears this may be the issue. I am using a temporary usb 2.0 non-powered hub which is working, but when I start adding more devices I think the 1 5v 3a supply will start to hit its limits. I need to find a powered hub which will work.
I did notice a thread where someone here mentioned they needed to use diodes as their 2 power supplies in this same setup caused issues also.
My storage stick is slow to read after the car is turned on. I have to wait a minute or two for my apps to be able to play songs from it.
Also, because my dac also has the ability to do digital input, it's somehow overridden the default inbuilt mic so I can't use voice commands or anything now either.
