Just figured I'de show my camera setup. My truck already had a Pioneer back up camera installed, so I wanted to try to get that to work before removing it and reinstalling a new camera. All the wires were already run, etc etc. Plus the camera is really nice. Night visibility is great considering there is no IR or anything. I've read about people getting EasyCAP devices to work with no lag and no issues. But I sure couldn't get it to work that easily. My main issue was that if I power the EasyCAP all the time, then any time I fired up the tablet it would try to open the device. It was not a good solution. It would open, say it couldn't detect a camera, then close. So this is the solution I came up with. I installed a relay on the power wire for the EasyCAP. Now its off 100% of the time, along with the camera, until the car is in reverse. Then the camera gets power, and the EasyCAP gets power, and the app opens. Its a tiny bit clunky as you can see, but very tolerable. I also added back up guide lines with the setup to kind of help judge things. Let me know what you think. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWkUHt5uxYAJustin

Hmm..good question. I dont recall doing anything special. There might be drivers to install, but if there were, I must have found them either on an EasyCAP site or maybe something like XDA Developers maybe? I will look through my notes and all and see if I have anything. It wasnt difficult though.

Hi moiloon. So, just so we're clear. The system will work without the relay. However, I was having issues with the app opening any time the tablet would wake up, due to the easycap being powered all the time. It didnt have anything to do with the camera. You could leave the camera powered all the time, or have it switch on with the reverse signal like I did. Its the easycap that triggers the app to open. It was very unreliable without the relay. Now its rock solid, with only a minor hiccup every few weeks. Usually a key off/key on solves the hiccup, worst case I reboot the tablet (which I like to do occasionally anyway) and that fixes it. Here is a link to a diagram that I made for people that were requesting it on the youtube channel. Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Justin

right need a little help, it seems I cant use my usb dashcam and use my easycap/rear cam at the same time, ive tried multiple ways, front camera works no trouble, but trying to use my rear cam using easycap viewer causes the app to sort of glitch/loop constantly, it works flawlessly if I only use easycap/rear cam and not my usb dash cam, both cameras also show different id's as the dashcam is usb android headunit camera, and the easycap/rear camera is a normal car rear view camera ive tried 2 different eaycap devices both different chip types and named differently in pem, yet if I use the rear cam via the wifi transmitter ive also got, I can have the usb camera app background recording and open the wifi avin app and view the rear cam, but the problem with that app each time car is turned off and turned back on I must manually connect to the wifi transmitter and also open the wifi avin manually, which is a royal pain tbh, anyone any ideas how to overcome this?? I cant figure out how to get the wifi app to auto open on signal or auto connect to the wifi transmitter when car turned on anyone got any ideas to accomplish this??? thanks
edit: now sorted the wifi issue, used an wifi connection manager and set the wifi camera network to the top in priority, and simulating power on+off I can now auto connect to the wifi camera everytime, just cant figure out how to auto open/close the wifi avin app on signal/loss of signal, ive looked at tasker, and then couldn't figure how to try to create rules,so quickly shut the app as I was getting stressed and angry at my stupidity lol also tried with automateit pro app, and for all its layed out more user friendly I couldn't figure that either lol so if anyone could give any vice It would be graciously accepted

Justin What type of relay did you use? Also, do you need 2 wires coming from the brake light to trigger the relay? I only see one wire. Thanx.

Any 12v relay will work. You aren't dealing with heavy loads so a low amp relay is fine. 30 amp Bosch relays are common and easy to run wires to so they are normally my choice.
So you can run any 12v source to the camera and relay. I used the reverse light positive signal. Both relay coil and camera are grounded, so when they see the 12v from the reverse lights they fire right up.
