>> if I get chance over the next few days I will try it out and let you know Thanks, appreciate it! Ok I tried this and the charging icon does show when the wireless charger is held to the back of the N7 .. so it does detect wireless charging with the battery removed Can you please test if the wireless charger wakes the screen with the fake batt @100%?

I have a 2012 and a 2013 that I have tried this with. When connected directly without the battery neither device seems to pick up USB host mode and do not turn on and of with ignition/turning the car off. when you turn off the ignition does the battery symbol on the N7 still have a lightening bolt through it as if it is showing it is still charging ? I have the same issue. Has anyone managed to solve it? I can only get USB host mode with the battery attached. gstiles: any news?

Has anyone managed to solve it? I can only get USB host mode with the battery attached. gstiles : any news? If you are running Timur kernel you have to disconnect the microusb and check the FI mode in the Power manger app (Timur's app that comes with the kernel) and then reconnect the microusb to the tablet. PS. All i can say that Timur's kernel and settings are hit and miss regarding the "AUTO ON/OFF", i've dismantled the dash at least 20 times because of this issue... the only way to fix this is to disconnect and reconnect the microusb. Now i'm thinking to buy a wireless charger to wake/sleep the tablet but i think that Timur's kernel won't detect that.... Btw: You are running android 5.1.1 or 6.0.1?

Why you dont use usb hub with otg cable to get the ON/OFF working ? I'm using that with the tablet and its working #1.

Having a problem, I done the no battery mod and I get the tablet to power on until it actually starts to load the home launcher and then it shuts back off and shows the battery icon. I have tried a few different cables and chargers but all have the same result. Whats my next step?

This is exactly my setup Nexus - OTG - POWERED USB HUB For those with 0% battery if is not a wiring issue you have to bypass the battery board and apply to the black and red wires max 4.2v with a good psu, The battery pcb/circuit has a overvoltage protection and when the voltage limit exceed the output is cut-off, second the PM IC degrades/fails because of the sustained overvoltage and then shows 100%......0% Applying 4.2v directly to the black and red wires will make the OS think that has no battery (will work just fine) due to the absence of the battery pcb/circuit. The only downside = very risky when not using a good and stable psu and the "maybe" not be able to flash any rom due to the absence of battery.

When power is turned on I get a battery icon showing full charge, but when I try to boot it will sometimes make it all the way to the home screen before shutting off and others it will shut off during the boot screen. Whats the problem here?

I got it working with 100% battery. It is based on BQ27541, to get 100% instead 0% you have to short protection circuit after current measuring resistor: Because I have 2 DC-DC converters (one for the battery and one for the USB) I separated them with diodes because I had problems when both were connected to the tablet. I'm using 5V DC-DC.

Problem solved. I removed the battery and was feeding 4.9V to the battery connector and it was too much voltage. Because of that the tablet didn't detect the charger cable as it was feeding the same voltage. What I did was buy a stepdown converter and set it to 3.9V to feed into the battery and now everything works as expected. I knew that was going to be the issue!!! I wish I would have stuck with it a little longer, but I just got tired of messing with it. And the battery works so well, I basically gave up. The thing rarely has to charge, and Ive seen no adverse effects sitting in long periods of heat or cold. I will likely be going back to this at some point though, as its the only reason Im running a rear cover at the moment. Thanks for posting that this worked!! J.

Sorry for taking so long to answer. I didn't receive the notification.
I bought this one but make a slightly change to it. I changed the output capacitor to one 25V 4700uF. the reason why is because when you crank the engine the tablet will reboot because it doesn't receive enough current/voltage. The capacitor helps keeping constant voltage. If you can find/buy a bigger one, do it.
www.ebay.com/itm/DC-DC-LM2596-Step-Down-Adjustable-Converter-Power-Supply-Module-1-3V-35V-/262283942231?hash=item3d11575957:g:br0AAOSwBahVBTX2
edit: after some testing i ended up raising the voltage to 4V. 3.9V sometimes was reporting the battery capacity to be around 80% and it made the tablet reboot sometimes because the battery time was reporting just seconds of duration.

I installed nexus 7 2013 in 2 cars, I preformed the no battery mod and have Timur's 5.1.1 rom installed. And like others have said sometimes my tablet won't sense the key off it will continue stay on and over charges and not go into suspended.
Can someone please explain how to fix the problem, think beginner's guide.
