I just read all the thread about the battery mod. I want to put a n7 as head unit. I just want to check before i start the mod. The tablet is a 2013. If it's the correct step: 1-install the timur kernel and android 6 2-make the batterie mod like the tutorial 3-instal this power supply and down the voltage to 4volt. www.ebay.fr/itm/1-pcs-Convertisseur-DC-DC-15W-Udentree-9-2-18V-Ubase-5VDC-180g-/112514865906?hash=item1a32689af2:g:Jr4AAOSwbmdZiOSABut i don't understood about the wake and sleep. I can't have access to unplug the usb otg cable. -If i add a powered usb hub to the ign, when i shutdown, if the tablet going to sleep mode(with the correct task)? -I have seen a tips with a wireless charger to the ign. Does this method work to sleep the tablet? -And the last way i have seen a mod to extended power button, and then with the timur make a fast boot mode. Whith the 2013 model i need to adjust the voltage down. Can help me for this point please. Thank

Hi guys, I got a question for you I do this mod cause my battery was always down, until I cant use my tablet Now works with everything( GPS, audio, google...) but I see that when I connect it to a 12v conversor on my home, just to check it, it only power on when I use the power button, is there an option to power up the tablet when I turn on my car??
thanks

Got a couple questions. I have my spare battery taken apart and Im ready to build the power hook up. Im working on an 2012 model N7. Do you know if I have to do the second black wire hookup? Not sure Im understanding the point of that if youre just supplying power to the same two points as the battery. Wondering if there is something different between the 2012 and 2013. Also...what is the little white thing that you were careful to trim around at the battery? I ended up cutting my board off without that. I can easily attach it. But wanted to see what it is and make sure I need it. Is it a fuse? (EDIT: I see that it is both a temp protection circuit as well as over-current protection. Question is...do I really need it now?) Thanks! Justin Hi Justin, I didnt attempt this with the 2012 N7 so cant 100% say for sure what will happen, the black wire I have no clue what it does, just I couldn't get mine to power up without it, but I hav had reports that others have not connected it and their N7 works perfectly .. strange but if it works it works .. So does your set up work now, ? The fastboot, should work when it senses power to the charging USB cable controlled by the IGN switch only .. so if you reconnect the battery on the car the N7 will not turn on, but if you then turn the ign on (power to the USB charging cable), it will begin the boot up process The circuit I left in, I assume it has all the electronics and sensors for the battery control i.e. temp sensor, etc, I have known people do this mod and leave that circuit out only to have problems .. the tablet not showing 100% for example which caused them problems with something else (cant quite remember what) so best to leave that in .. EDIT ... one thing I will say, if you disconnect the power (I mean the battery power not the charging cable) from the N7 without shutting it down properly (by the switch) it may take longer to boot up .. This may have something to do with it not going through a proper shut down sequence ... there are software apps that can shut the N7 down without you having to use the power off button if you ever need to remove the car battery or the N7 from the car. so give it a while when you connect it to the battery and the google screen comes on to go through the boot up sequence .. Hello has anyone tried using a usn power bank instead of car battery. And having the cigarette lighter charge the power bank?

Hello has anyone tried using a usn power bank instead of car battery. And having the cigarette lighter charge the power bank? You can use a power bank but there is a caveat. Most Battery banks will only stay on if the device request power. If your tablet is near/at/over 5v most(ex: my anker power bank) will shut off shortly after the tablet is connected regarding the above parameters. I lowered my voltage to 4.31v(max reading) and now my power bank stays on.Also for those that do a (semi) permanent installation there is a way for the tablet(or any android device) to power on when power is supplied to the usb port. You will need to use adb. the command is:" fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0 ". You can search the web to verify as well. I use the rear USB from my radio to power the usb port on my N7 2013 for this reason. Also to turn the tablet screen on as well.

I realise there has been no activity on this thread for nearly a year. But just wanted to know if anyone figure out what voltage the Nexus 2013 model should be getting. A standard 5V usb power soure actually outputs exactly 5.3V.

A standard 5V usb power soure actually outputs exactly 5.3V. Nevermind, it seems like although people are saying 4.3V etc. 5.3V is good. I measured the voltage output of the original battery and its around 5.1. I'm using a chinese DC to DC buck step down converter going straight into the tablet via a 1n5822 diode. Tablet powers up fine and works perfectly. I am then usng an OTG host cable connected to a standard cigerette socket to USB which i broke out of the housing and snapped away the LED. From the USB you only need to connect the +5V wire from the cig socket because the device already shares a common ground. So far so good. I still have a bit to do before i finalise this. Below are a few pics of the battery logic board, i soldered the wires on and used glue lined heatshrink straight over it

Hello everybody I have been running 2013 model as sat nav on my car for while: youtu.be/kzaD5LVF038My current problem is on starting the tablet would goes to auto shot down and after wards it will turn on automatically as if it has zero battery. As far I study and understand it, there is issue on my power surge on start up, car battery is new however, I can see drop to 11v on start load. I am thinking to adding like 4 Farad capacitor or a battery at buck convertor out put. What is you idea ? any suggestion ? Setup is a generic buck converter which easy gives above 2amp, there is ground loop isolator on entrance of 12v. Two separated copper wire usb from buck converter runs inside of aluminumed shell, one directly to battery protection board and other to OTG and....
